Carol Chew

In the vibrant tapestry of our diverse team, we take pride in the individuals who contribute their unique skills and passion to our collective success. This month, we turn the spotlight to our HR Generalist, Carol, who has played a pivotal role in shaping the narrative of Swagelok Singapore for an incredible 32 years! She spent her first 25 years in finance before moving on to the Human Resource (HR) department. In her HR role, Carol spearheads critical aspects such as employee orientation, compensation, and benefits, and ensures HR compliance with regulations. 

As an HR Generalist, Carol actively engages in the entire employee life cycle, establishing connections with individuals from the moment they step into the interview room to the time they officially join our team. She spends a lot of time developing and managing the relationship between the people and finds it rewarding to witness their growth in the company – both on a professional and personal level. Carol views herself as a result-oriented person so she was more than happy to embrace the challenge of transitioning to a role in HR despite her slight fear. We love that our associates dare to step out of their comfort zones and take on new challenges to broaden their horizons and commit to personal and professional growth.

Beyond her role at Swagelok Singapore, Carol revealed her passion for travel and expressed interest in working as a travel agent. This is driven by her deep enjoyment of exploring new destinations with people. Carol is acknowledged by friends and family as a loyal companion with an exceptional memory, often likened to a walking calendar! We’ll never forget to celebrate an associate’s birthday or miss another company meeting with her around. 

Carol considers herself as an introvert. On weekends, she prefers reading and spending time at church doing ministry work such as volunteering and participating in outreach and community service initiatives. As we already know she likes to travel, it is no surprise that among the many things on her bucket list, she hopes to go backpacking for 30 days in Europe!

As we celebrate Carol’s excellence, we are reminded of the invaluable contributions that each associate brings to our organization. We look forward to witnessing their continued success in the future – both in Swagelok Singapore and outside.
